NEW "GEORGIAN BENT"
ASSN. FORMS IN WASAGA BEACH Did you know that there are more than a dozen recumbent trikes in the Wasaga Beach area, virtually all of them home built? A new recumbent trike association of builder/riders was officially formed on Saturday, March 5, 2005. As its first official act, 'Georgian Bents' of Wasaga Beach donated a recumbent trike to a handicapped young lady in Wasaga Beach. Meeting in the hall of Faith Evangelical Church in Wasaga Beach, Rev. John Stanley officially made the presentation to Tammy Lance. She and her mother, Maria, were delighted with the gift. The trike was built from contributions & labour of club members.
Most members of the group are skilled in the mechanics of cycle building and have created their own recumbent trikes, most of which look professional in quality. Organizers plan to continue the group as a loose knit association. They will organize rides on the roads and beaches in the area as well as a few events. Member, Tim Hicks of Barrie is interested in organizing an ice race next year. Along with the Brantford event, this would give two human powered ice racing events in south-central Ontario. Several members are planning to join the Human Powered Transportation Association, based in Brantford. Both groups share a strong interest in homebuilts. Several local builders are expected to attend HPTA's "Bike Builders' Workshop" in Brantford on April 2nd. About 15 recumbent enthusiasts meet
in Wasaga Beach to form a new association of builders and cycling enthusiasts, Rev. John Rolson, spokesman for the group presents Tammy Lance with a trike made & donated by club members.==>> Wayne & Bonnie of B & E Cycle in Wasaga Beach B & E CYCLE in WASAGA BEACH |
